POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Consultant at CBABC is a stand-alone independent HR contractor, responsible for guiding and maintaining the associations people and culture practices, processes, and programs. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources Consultant provides guidance and owns projects related to employee relations and compliance, talent management, recruitment and HR operations for a workforce of approximately 25 employees, in a not-for-profit, member-based association context.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build strong relationships and establish credibility with the staff to ensure trusting, positive interactions.
Lead recruitment and onboarding of new hires and work with senior management to continuously improve recruitment and onboarding processes.
Provide strategic advice on employment relations, performance management, compensation and training.
Administer processes and maintain records for annual and periodic performance and compensation reviews.
Update employee policies and programs as required to ensure compliance with changes to legislation, or to reflect operational changes.
Support end of employment processes including dismissal planning, exit interviews and documentation.
Participate in monthly management team and bi-weekly staff meetings when requested.
Assist Director, Finance & Administration with time off calculations, absence tracking, and benefits administration, as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in Human Resources.
At least five years of Human Resources at a Generalist or Manager level; direct experience with fractional/outsourced HR management is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work inclusively and strategically with stakeholders at all organizational levels and across diverse backgrounds.
Strong knowledge of the BC Employment Standards Act, BC Human Rights Code, and Worksafe BC rules and guidelines. Demonstrated ability to translate laws into practice.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of employment law in British Columbia.
Familiarity with MS Teams and Excel is an asset.
SALARY RANGE
$85 - $100/hour based on experience and qualifications.
